THE EIFFEL TOWER & STATUE OF LIBERTY

Perhaps the two most recognizable monumental symbols in the world are The Statue of Liberty and The Eiffel Tower.

The Eiffel Tower was built in 1889 and was the tallest man made structure in the world at that time.  At one time, the people of France thought that the Eiffel Tower should be taken down after the World's Fair.

The people of France gave the people of the United States of America, the gift of The Statue of Liberty.  The artist for the project was Frederic Auguste Bartholdi.   It was dedicated on October 28, 1886.

Alexandre Gustave Eiffel Bönickhausen (December 15, 1832 – December 27, 1923;  was a French structural engineer and entrepreneur and a specialist of metallic structures. He is famous for designing the Eiffel Tower, built 1887–1889 for the 1889 Universal Exposition in Paris, France, and the armature for the Statue of Liberty, New York Harbor, United States

Gustave Eiffel was truly a busy man.

When taking a ride on the Bateaux Mouche on the River Seine in Paris, you can see both the Eiffel Tower and Statue of Liberty. This picture proves it and is further enhanced by the addition of my wife Mary Ann.
